Sender Checkout

Take a look at the sender options for checkout.

Updated over 4 months ago

We want to ensure that your customer's experience is as smooth as possible. Your customers have two different experiences with your checkout page. This article is dedicated to the gift sender experience.

Please note that our app is currently only compatible with stores that utilize a BigCommerce native checkout.

Gifting Methods

Your customers will have two different options to send their gift:

  1. Send to Address - this option is useful for customers who already know their recipient's address, and it's ideal if they want to keep the gift a secret. We do not have access to your shipping configurations, and so we cannot send a special message using this method.

  2. Send a Link - this option is useful for customers who do not know their recipient's address, or would like their recipient to choose an address, and they can add a special gift message.

The options will be presented to the customer as follows:

Send to Address

If your customer chooses to send directly to an address without a notification to the recipient, they will be prompted to input the recipient's name:

The rest of the checkout process will be very similar to the experience that they are familiar with on your store. Instead of inputting their own shipping address, they will provide the recipient address. Recipient name will be auto-populated!

When a customer sends an order directly, and we already know the recipient address - we won't charge the highest shipping or tax applied in the app admin portal since we'll already be able to calculate the accurate amounts.

Send a Link

If your customer chooses to send a link with a special gift message, the customer will be prompted to provide a recipient email and gift message:

Once this step is completed, the customer will then move onto the shipping details. We customize the checkout experience for the sender to show the default shipping and tax rates, with tooltips explaining the process.

Tool Tip for Estimated Shipping

The tool tip for estimated shipping informs the sender that they'll be refunded any unused amounts. We provide this context to ensure the process is as transparent and smooth as possible.

Tool Tip for Estimated Tax

The tool tip for estimated tax informs the sender that they'll be refunded any unused amounts. We provide this context to ensure the process is as transparent and smooth as possible.

Refunds for Expired Gifts

We make it clear in the order process that any gifts not accepted - will be refunded back to the sender.
