Introduction
This article will give you an overview of the gift statuses that the app uses, the flow of a typical gift order and the available tools to manage gifts.
Order Flow
The flow a typical gifting order takes runs through two different statuses
Pending Redemption
Once the customer has selected the item to gift, completed checkout and successful payment, the gift is marked as a 'Pending Redemption' status. At this time the recipient will receive an email containing a link to redeem the gift.
Redeemed
Once the recipient enters their shipping address the gift is marked as 'Redeemed' This will trigger the order to be fulfilled and marked to be shipped.
Expired
Once a gift has reached the limit defined in settings the status will automatically change to 'Expired'. The link sent to the recipient will become inactive and unable to define a shipping address. We recommend that you contact the recipient using the app to let them know about the next steps they can take.
Refunded
If you choose to refund the gift the customer will receive a refund including the gift total and any shipping/tax paid as per the order. Choosing to refund the customer will consider the order cancelled and you will be unable to redo this action.
Direct
Any gifts that are sent by a customer by directly entering the recipients address will bypass the recipient redemption step, and the order will be placed direct. These orders will be displayed as 'Direct' in the gift orders.
